The Problem with Celebrity.

Perhaps one of the most dismaying stories for advocates of anti-violence against women and children is that Rihanna has taken back Chris Brown, after that beating-up incident that happened several weeks ago. A lot of her fans and casual observers alike were thinking that such violence spelled the end of their relationship, especially after her pictures post-ugly incident surfaced a few days later.

Of course, the choice of getting back together is hers alone, but since she’s a public figure everything she does is going to be discussed, approved of or frowned upon. It’s difficult enough to deal with the problem alone; more difficult when one has to take into consideration how people would react to your every move. It may seem unfair that she has to consider public opinion, but that’s the downside of being in the entertainment business.

It’s been said that if it can happen once, it can happen again. Violence isn’t an exception. I can only hope that since she’s made this choice, the violence won’t happen again.
